Series One (2002)

Series One
Series One

The first of Raven's tournaments, airing on the new CBBC channel, with a completely different look compared to the subsequent series. Tournament rules and structure are markedly different, and Raven's look is entirely changed, being dressed-down and his personality rather cheerful. The warriors also wear different outfits, including simple clothes and their coloured sash.

Challenges from the first tournament include the infamous Old Troll, a trip to Raven's Lair, and a final wisdom test at the end of each week; but it also set the precedent with long-lasting challenges, such as Deep Loch, Riddle Bridge and of course, the Way of the Warrior.

Series Two (2003)

Raven returns in the second tournament, and debuts Raven's updated look that has remained for every series since — a black outfit, including his feathered cloak, and his new Staff of Power. Nevar is also introduced as Raven's arch-enemy and Guardian of the Portal, and the warriors wear new outfits that carry one of the six emblems.

New challenges for this tournament include the long-running wisdom test, Demon Square, battling the Fire Demon, and also introduces the Blasted Mountain that would feature in many series afterwards. This series also sees the feared Way of the Warrior finally conquered by two warriors.

Series Three (2004)

Series Three

Raven's third outing, airing in 2004, remained similar to the second tournament, as Raven tests a new set of warriors in order to find the Ultimate Warrior he is looking for.

Challenges for this series include the perilous Troll Trap, the Millstone Towers, and the new one-on-one challenge fought atop the Balance Beam. By the series' end, another fearless warrior is destined to complete the Way of the Warrior.

Series Four (2005)

Series Four

The fourth series of Raven, airing in 2005, introduced a new set of changes to improve the style of the tournament. The six emblems were updated to be bolder, and the music was much improved in many areas. Nevar's look, which remains the same to the present, was updated to include a full metal mask and burnt irises.

Memorable challenges this series include the fiendish Dwarf Mine, the Tower Build, and the rather confusing Demon Causeway. This would prove to be the last tournament in which anyone would complete the Way of the Warrior, a challenge that has remained undefeated since.

Raven: The Island (2006)

Raven: The Island
Raven: The Island

The first Raven adventure sees Raven and his trusted friend since childhood, Princess Erina, mounting a plan to retake the thousand-year-old Great Oak that has been captured by Nevar and locked away in the fortress of Raven and Erina's childhood home, the Island of Alaunus. The island has come under Nevar's complete control and, with the sole exception of Erina, has seen all of its inhabitants, including Raven himself, exiled. Erina will guide three teams of four warriors through a journey that will lead them to the Oak, where they must take an acorn and return it to her, so that it can be replanted away from the Island.

Series Five (2006)

Series Five

The fifth series of Raven builds upon the successful formula of the fourth, and aired in 2006. To start each warrior's quest, this series debuts the warrior's introductory challenge, in which they will complete a challenge to earn their emblem — here, the Warrior's Gate.

New challenges this series include the frantic team-based Battering Ram, risking the gaze of Nevar's Eye, and using teamwork in the gruesome Torture Chamber.

The sixth series of Raven remains true to the formula of the fifth. Airing in 2007, the music connecting the challenges was once again updated.

Challenges for this tournament include deciphering the lock of the Dead Man's Vault, flying high on the Zip Line, and the return of the long-lost Fire Demon.

Raven: The Secret Temple (2007)

Raven: The Secret Temple
Raven: The Secret Temple

The second Raven adventure series, building upon the formula established in The Island, The Secret Temple sees four groups of four warriors travel to a distant, Eastern land, in order to find the magical elixir that will free Raven's homeland from a spell cast upon by Nevar, who has frozen the land entirely. The teams must compete in trials to collect jewels that will allow them access to the eponymous temple, under the guidance of the mysterious Princess, Satyarani.

Filmed in India in 2007, The Secret Temple offered lavish scenery and backdrops, with eastern-inspired challenges to match, such as the Temple Spirit Run, the Chariots, and Rangoli Ring, all under the watchful eyes of the Spirit Guards.

Series Seven (2008)

Series Seven

The seventh series of Raven aired after The Secret Temple adventure, at the start of 2008. Many subtle alterations combined to create a highly-polished series, including new challenges and music, upgraded but subtle new special effects for the new high-definition filming format, new warrior outfits for the colder weather of autumn, and a trip under the Blasted Mountain for those warriors strong enough to find themselves in the final three.

Played amongst the beautiful autumn scenery, challenges this tournament include the new introductory challenge Warrior's Race, Fire Water, Demon Army, and Target Run. It also offers some emotional moments and some incredibly close calls on several challenges, including the Last Stand and dreaded Way of the Warrior.

Series Eight (2008)

Series Eight
Series Eight

The eighth series of Raven once again introduces more changes as the series moves to a new filming location, with Raven's search for his Ultimate Warrior taking him more to the north of the mainland. Major changes to the format include the controversial removal of live scoring scenes, replaced by computer-generated imagery, the removal of the large map in favour of maps for individual challenges, and interviews that appear before challenges, sometimes as groups, as well as the usual after-challenge interviews.

This series sees an increase in water-based challenges, such as Demon River, Dead Man's Gorge, and Sunken Treasure, though still retaining some long-running challenges, like Long Staff, Deep Loch and Demon Square, albeit set in new surroundings. The Way of the Warrior and Last Stand would also see new changes.

Raven: The Dragon's Eye (2009)

The third Raven adventure returns Raven to the mainland, and sees Raven set out to destroy an ancient stone, the eponymous Dragon's Eye, with the aid of four teams of four warriors. This stone is said to grant the bearer great power, and Raven learns that Nevar has set out to take the stone for himself.

Raven will once again test his hopeful warriors with a gruelling set of trials to prove themselves before they can move to the final stage of the quest to track down the Eye. But a new figure — Ervan, once a servant of Nevar — presents himself as an ally to Raven, and Raven must decide whether he can trust him.

Series Nine (2009)

The ninth series, airing after The Dragon's Eye, is largely similar to the eighth tournament in style. The series once again eschews live scoring scenes in favour of CGI, and rather than using the Raven's Eye of his Staff before challenges, Raven directly questions his warriors at many intervals.

New challenges for this series include the team-based Pendulum, the Pontoon Pursuit, and the controversial Forest of Fear.

Series Ten (2010)

The tenth series of Raven, airing in early 2010, retained the same traits as the ninth series.
